The late Gilda Radner,
in the face of her impending death, summed it up pretty well when she
wrote….
"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned the
hard way that some poems don't rhyme and some stories don't have a clear
beginning, middle and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change,
taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what is going
to happen next. Delicious ambiguity."
Don't we all want perfect endings to our stories? For our children's
futures. Most mothers get them. Others have to create them from the
tapestry life weaves for us. Death alone cannot defeat us, only we can do
that. When travails beset us let us stand our ground against the howling
winds. Let us link our hearts together and hold on tight. It's how we can
deal with death, the loss of our child. Alone we're vulnerable. But as one
we're powerful. Beyond pain and suffering, there is light. And the promise
of a better day.
